Staten Island Ferry

A ferry leaves the port of Manhattan 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every 15 to 30 minutes and sets out on the waterway through the Upper New York Bay to Staten Island.

Staten Island is one of the five boroughs of New York City and, not surprisingly, an island. The area is therefore heavily dependent on the ferry link that was opened in 1917. The passenger-only ferry service is operated by the New York City Department of Transportation and has been free since 1997. The daily number of passengers is around 65,000 trips, a large part of which is accounted for by commuters.
