One World Trade Center

In 2014, 13 years after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the One World Trade Center was opened. The 1 WTC was built in eight years at the site of “Ground Zero” in Lower Manhattan.

The One World Trade Center is 541 meters high and is the tallest building in the city and North America. The skyscraper was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, who also designed the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa.

Not far from the 1 WTC, is the National September 11 Memorial, which is supposed to commemorate the approximately 3000 victims. The memorial consists of two large basins located on the site of the twin towers. The names of the victims are engraved in the border, from there water flows continuously into the middle of the 4000 square meter pool. They are the largest man-made waterfalls of the United Staes.
