Beijing is the capital of the People’s Republic of China. The city in the north of China can look back on a long history. Many traces can still be found today, although Beijing is now a modern global city.
21.7 million people today call Beijing their home. This puts it in third place among the cities with the largest population (Municipality), only Shanghai and Chongqing are in front of it.
