Italy, the southern European country shaped like a boot. The peninsula is located in the Mediterranean Sea and borders France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. There are also two independent states within Italy, San Marino and the Vatican.
Italy is considered, along with Greece, the cradle of Western culture. With its thousands of years of legacy, Italy has history everywhere.
Pizza, pasta, panini, ice cream, cheese, salami, ham, oil and vine, to name but a few. Italy has one of the tastiest cuisines in the world.
The ltalians have the largest variety of surnames of any ethnicity with over 350.000. The most common name in the southern country is Rossi, which has it's origins in the region of Lazio.
