The Rainbow Village is an old military settlement in Taichung which served as accommodation for soldiers of the nationalist Kuomintang (KMT) army.
One of the soldiers was the artist Huang Yong-Fu. He painted the houses in the course of time. The walls are so colorful that visitors associated them with the rainbow and call the village Rainbow Village and him Rainbow Grandfather.
