Mỹ Sơn

Mỹ Sơn is a group of Hindu temples dedicated to the worship of the god Shiva. The area is located in the Quảng Nam Province Vietnam, 69 km southwest of Da Nang. The temple was built between the 4th and 14th centuries AD under the kings of Champa.

The Mỹ Sơn temple complex is perhaps the longest inhabited archaeological site in Indochina and has been 1999 recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site.

During one week in August 1969, a large majority of the architecture of Mỹ Sơn was destroyed. American Air Force aircrafts threw bombs at the area. The craters are still visible today.
