Mutianyu (慕田峪) is a section of the Great Wall of China close to Beijing. The section is mostly built out of granite and is considered as one of the best preserved ones of the series of fortification systems.
Characteristic of this section is that the defenders could be fought back from both sides. Also there are many Watchtowers (22 on 2,250 meters).
To visit the Mutianyu wall visitors have three options. You can walk over 4000 steps or take the two-rider chairlift or four-rider gondola lift for a more comfortable ride. Down there is a fourth option, with a single-rider personal wheeled vehicle through a metal slide.
