Maidan
Maidan Nezalezhnosti is one of the main squares in the city center of the Ukrainian capital. Throughout the city’s history it has had different names. The current name “Майдан Незалежності”, translated Independence Square, was given to it in 1991 as a result of Ukraine’s declaration of independence.
The Maidan, in short, is an important meeting place for political rallies and was the scene of the Euromaidan protests in 2013-2014.
The National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War is a museum complex in the Pechersk district of Kiev. It is intended to commemorate the war between Germany and the Soviet Union. The most striking exhibit of the complex is the 62-meter-high Motherland statue.
