Bergues

Bergues is a small town in the French region Hauts-de-France. It is located 15 kilometres from the Belgian border. Bergues became famous trough the movie “Welcome to the Sticks” (French original title Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis).

The belfry in the city centre is the main attraction and is know for its carillon consisting of 50 bells. Construction began in the 13th century. It belongs to the 32 Belfries in Belgium and France which were awarded by UNESCO as World Heritage Site.
