Transportation in Beijing

Beijing is a city of contrasts, where ancient temples stand alongside soaring skyscrapers and narrow alleys open onto busy boulevards. Anyone who has ever visited Beijing knows that the city is huge. With a population of over 21 million people, it can be difficult to get around. But for visitors and residents alike, there are a variety of transportation options available.

One of the most popular mode of transportation is the subway, which is clean, efficient, and relatively inexpensive. However during rush hour, it can be very grounded. For longer journeys, there are also taxis and buses. Besides the car, two-wheelers are very popular among the residents of the city. Be it normal bikes, rental bikes or even motorized scooters and motorcycles.

Of course, the best way to see Beijing is on foot. Walking allows you to take in all the sights and sounds of the city, and it’s a great way to explore some of the many hidden alleyways and courtyards.
