Malmö is the third largest city in Sweden and the largest in Skåne County. It is located at the southwestern tip of Sweden in the transnational Øresund region. The Øresund Region includes the three regions on Øresund strait, Skåne on the Swedish side and on the Danish side, Capital Region of Denmark and Region Zealand.
Turning Torso
The Turning Torso is the tallest building in Scandinavia. The neo-futuristic high-rise was designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and opened in 2005.
The turned skyscraper has 54 floors and almost 150 apartments.
Sankt Johannes kyrka
The Sankt Johannes kyrka stands in the centre of Malmö and was designed by the Swedish architect Axel Anderberg. The jugendstil church was built between 1903 and 1906 from red bricks. About twenty different natural stones were used for the ornaments of the Lutheran church.
Unusual is the placement of the church tower, which is not traditionally located in the west but in the north of the church near the sanctuary.
